Excited medical students gathered at Dow Diamond in Midland on March 18 for CMU College of Medicine Match Day. At noon, students joined their peers across the nation in opening envelopes containing the names of the residency programs in which they will spend the next four to seven years continuing their physician training.

One-hundred and five CMU medical students participated in the match process this year. Fulfilling the college’s mission of educating culturally competent physicians to provide comprehensive care to underserved populations in Michigan and beyond, more than 50 percent of students will remain in Michigan, and nearly two-thirds chose a primary care specialty.
