Trustees to receive updates on strategic priorities at April meeting
Discussion topics include SEM plan, accreditation and student success initiatives
The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees will meet in its formal session at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, following scheduled committee meetings on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Items on the agenda for the April sessions include establishing tuition rates for the Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at CMU for the 2027-2028 academic year and consideration of hiring a construction manager service for the CMU MyMichigan Health Medical Education Building in Saginaw.
Other items on the meeting agenda include:
- Lease renewal for Lansing administrative space
- Revision of authorized cost of the CMU golf training facility
- Broomfield Road real estate trade and easement
- Advancement private support report
- Emeritus rank for faculty and staff members
- Public school academy activities
- Prospective Spring 2026 graduates
- New and changing endowments, awards and scholarships
Highlights for Wednesday’s committee meetings include (all times approximate):
- Academic and Student Affairs Committee, 2:30-2:45 p.m. – Provost and Executive Vice President Paula Lancaster will present to the committee the consent agenda items for approval during Thursday’s Formal Session.
- Enrollment, Retention and Student Success Committee, 2:45-3:00 p.m. – The committee will discuss enrollment and retention rates and progress on the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan with Vice President of Student Recruitment and Retention Jennifer DeHaemers.
- Finance and Facilities Committee, 3:00-3:20 p.m. – Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services Mary Hill will join the committee to give an update on capital construction projects, deferred maintenance and facility operations.
- Access, Belonging and Community Impact Committee, 3:20-3:30 p.m. – The committee chair, Trustee David McGhee, will provide a brief overview of the work of this new committee.
- Athletics Affairs Committee, 3:30-3:45 p.m. – Trustee Todd Regis, committee chair, will provide a brief overview about the work of this committee.
- Trustees-Student Liaison Committee, 3:45-4:15 p.m. – Current leaders of the Student Government Association, Program Board and Residence Housing Association will provide updates from their organizations and introduce newly elected student leaders.
- Trustees-Faculty Liaison Committee, 4:15-4:45 p.m. – Director of the CMU Biological Station Kevin Pangle, faculty member in the Department of Biology, and two undergraduate students will present educational, research and outreach opportunities at the CMU Biological Station on Beaver Island.

Board of Trustees meetings are open to the university community and members of the public. All meetings will be held in the President’s Conference Room in the Bovee University Center, with seating for up to 25 individuals in the adjoining Lake Superior Room.

Per the Board of Trustees Bylaws, individuals wishing to address the Board of Trustees during the public comment period must submit a request in advance of the formal session in one of two ways:

- Visit the Office of the President in Warriner Hall to complete a request card.
