The Alumni Association Board of Directors fills board vacancies by appointment, seeking people who are dedicated to serving and engaging with alumni, and have a track record of volunteering for CMU or in their community.

“I’m thrilled to welcome our newest members to the Alumni Association board of directors,” said Erica Romac,’13, alumni board president. “Their passion and dedication are exactly what helps keep our alumni network strong and thriving. I have no doubt their energy will help us continue to build momentum and keep everyone Fired Up!”

"We’re excited to have this new group of alumni joining our board," said Marcie Otteman, deputy chief of alumni relations and constituent engagement. “Each person brings a strong record of dedication to our university, and we look forward to the many ways they will enhance the alumni experience.”

About the new alumni board members

Monica Hackney, ’00 B.A. (Journalism), is a front-end software engineer at Hagerty in Traverse City, MI. She volunteers at local races for nonprofit organizations and has helped her neighborhood association with various technology support. In addition, she volunteers as a planning committee member for the CMU Alumni Takeover Weekend. Hackney’s favorite thing about CMU is that it always feels like home. “It was my home for 5 years, but every time I visit campus, it still feels that way. There’s something special about CMU,” she said.

DeAndra Larkin, ’08 B.A.A. (Integrative Public Relations),’13 M.S.A. (General Administration), is the Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Greater Flint. Larkin joined the alumni board because of the impact CMU had on her educational journey. “The opportunities I received as a student at CMU laid the foundation for my professional success and personal growth,” she said. “Serving on the board allows me to give back to the university that gave me so much.” Larkin’s favorite thing about CMU is the camaraderie and the pride that faculty, staff, students, and alumni feel towards the university. “It’s a special feeling that stays with you long after graduation,” she said.

Pamela Price, ’12 M.S. (Health Care Administration), works at Oracle as a Senior Principal Technical Account Manager. Through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, she’s volunteered for the Michigan Heart Association as a lead fundraiser for over five years. Price has also helped students with tutoring and obtaining clothing for over 15 years, founding the non-profit “Priceless Dreams” which services students in multiple states. Price joined the alumni board to give back and stay connected with the university. She says her passion for CMU started as a graduate student. “I love how the professors took personal interest in my studies and inspired me to complete my master’s degree,” she said. “My classmates and I formed a bond, and we are still friends today. Fire Up Chips!”
