Central Michigan University’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program has been ranked one of the best in Michigan in the 2026 Best Cybersecurity Bachelor’s Programs rankings by Cybersecurity Guide.

The ranking evaluates cybersecurity bachelor’s programs across the state using key performance indicators such as student-to-faculty ratio, graduation and retention rates, and tuition costs.

Dr. Pat Kinnicutt, chair of CMU’s Department of Computer Science, said the ranking reflects the program’s comprehensive and forward-looking curriculum.

“We are pleased and honored to be listed as one of the top B.S. cybersecurity programs in Michigan,” Kinnicutt said. “Our program is designed so that when students graduate, they not only leave with the skills to detect and defend against cybersecurity attacks, but they also gain the technical expertise to design and review software solutions that help prevent attacks from occurring. Artificial intelligence is also a main focus in our program; students learn the underlying concepts of AI while also using AI to aid in cybersecurity prevention and defense.”

CMU’s cybersecurity program emphasizes both defensive and proactive strategies, preparing graduates to address current threats while developing secure systems designed to mitigate future risks. The integration of artificial intelligence concepts further positions students at the forefront of emerging technologies within the cybersecurity landscape.

As demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals continues to grow nationally and globally, the ranking underscores CMU’s role in preparing graduates to meet industry needs and contribute to a more secure digital future.
