Over the past year, the recipients of Central Michigan University’s 2025 Go Grants have been putting innovative ideas into action in pursuit of the four priorities of the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan

The first 27 Go Grant initiatives, announced in May 2025, spanned nearly every academic college and numerous administrative and student service units. Projects focused on student success and well-being, community engagement, sustainability and technology, faculty research, professional development for faculty and staff, and much more — they even included a new university anthem and summer camp programs.

Now, just shy of a year since they received their awards, many Go Grant recipients will share the outcomes, lessons learned and successes of their projects.

Inaugural GoGrants Symposium

CMU President Neil MacKinnon will welcome students, faculty and staff to the university’s first Go Grant Symposium, held from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, in the Bovee University Center Rotunda and Terrace Rooms.

The symposium will feature Go Grant recipients in many ways. The tentative program includes four moderated panel discussions based on themes of student support, student development, faculty and staff development, and community outreach and engagement. Additionally, there will be interactive poster presentations and demonstrations, short video vignettes, and musical performances.

Joe Garrison, university budget officer and assistant to the university president for strategic planning, said it is an opportunity to showcase the creativity, collaboration and dedication of CMU students, faculty and staff.

“We’ve planned a dynamic program to engage the campus community with all the innovative ideas that are now coming to fruition and moving CMU forward in positive ways,” Garrison said.

He said President MacKinnon plans to share an update on the future of the Go Grants Initiative.

Registration is recommended, Garrison said, and the symposium is open to all CMU students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners.
