CMU launches Change Champion Network to support university transformation

Central Michigan University launched the University Transformation Office in April 2025 with an eye on effectively aligning campus resources with strategic priorities.

As part of that effort, CMU is taking another step forward in its transformation journey with the launch of the Change Champion Network, a coalition of more than 20 faculty and staff who are enthusiastic about the opportunity to shape the future of CMU through collaboration and communication.

The network was initiated by the University Transformation Office to serve as a bridge between the UTO and colleges, departments and administrative units across campus. Change Champions will play a critical role in listening and amplifying voices, ensuring that ideas and concerns from every corner of the university are shared.

“Change Champions are our partners in creating a supportive and empowering culture at CMU,” said Chief Transformation Officer Darcie Wilson.

Members of the Change Champion Network will:

• Listen and share feedback from their units, bringing ideas and concerns forward.
• Communicate updates about ongoing projects and initiatives and share questions and concerns from the campus community.
• Collaborate across boundaries to promote innovation and inclusivity.

Support organizational change by helping colleagues understand the purpose and benefits of initiatives, and by modeling a culture of adaptability and growth.

The group meets monthly to discuss upcoming initiatives, provide input and identify opportunities to improve how CMU works together.

“This is about building community and creating a culture where faculty and staff feel connected, empowered and part of the change – not just impacted by it,” Wilson said.
