Employer spotlight: Plante Moran
Building early connections and real opportunity
For nearly a century, Plante Moran has built its reputation on long-term relationships—both with clients and future professionals. Founded in 1924, the firm has grown into one of the nation’s largest professional services firms, while maintaining a people-first approach.
For CMU students, that early exposure creates space to learn, ask questions, and begin building professional confidence well before junior-year recruiting begins.
A pathway that grows with students
Plante Moran’s apprenticeship-based model helps students them grow into larger responsibilities over time.
“We have internships that are for students from junior and senior year, and we also have full-time opportunities available for full-time graduates,” Ferguson said.
While accounting majors make up a large portion of the firm’s entry-level hires, Plante Moran’s opportunities extend beyond a single discipline.
“Most of the roles are for the students in accounting major, but we also have some PMFA wealth management and management consulting groups” he said.
Staying connected beyond the visit
For students who may have missed the opportunity to connect with Plante Moran during its visit to campus, the firm remains accessible and actively engaged with CMU.
“If the students missed the chance to meet the firm’s representatives, the best way to connect with them is to meet them at the Career Fair on February 6th, 2026, or to check the firm’s career page,” said Abby Spickard, campus recruiting senior consultant at Plante Moran for Central Michigan University. “It lists all of our current open opportunities that are available.” “All applications should be completed directly on the Plante Moran website, and someone will be in touch if it is selected for consideration”.
Through career fairs, leadership events and ongoing campus partnerships, Plante Moran continues to invest in relationships that help students move from classroom learning to professional impact.
For CMU students seeking early exposure, supportive mentorship and meaningful real-world experience, Plante Moran offers more than a first job. It offers a starting point.
