MDE approves Redmer Continuous Growth Model for Digital Educators

Dr. Rebekah Redmer has spent the last six years researching and developing the Redmer Continuous Growth Model for Digital Teaching—a framework designed specifically for K-12 digital educators that is now officially posted by the Michigan Department of Education as a state-approved observation tool for teachers!

The model grew out of a problem Redmer was trying to solve while building a digital school and working to support teachers, “What does high-quality instruction actually look like, and how do you help teachers get there?” This question became the foundation of her dissertation research while a student in the Doctor of Educational Technology online program at Central Michigan University. Her work evolved into a practical model that connects teacher goal setting, professional development, and evaluation into one continuous cycle of growth.

Built to meet the realities of modern digital teaching, the Redmer Model moves beyond one-time evaluation by connecting reflection, goal setting, professional learning, and feedback into a cohesive, long-term growth experience. The result is greater clarity for educators, strong coaching for leaders, and clearer signals of quality across digital learning environments.

“My hope is that this helps other digital schools and programs strengthen instruction while making the growth and evaluation process more meaningful and manageable,” says Redmer.
