Members First Credit Union connects with CMU students
During their campus visit, the team highlighted job opportunities and ways to explore careers in financial services.
Founded in 1936 when Midland County teachers pooled $50 to form a cooperative, Members First Credit Union began as an educator-focused institution and has since grown through mergers and community expansion to serve residents across Michigan. Headquartered in Midland, MFCU remains a locally driven, not-for-profit financial institution emphasizing member well-being, affordable banking, and community impact.
Roles for students and graduates
Members First Credit Union offers a range of opportunities for students and recent graduates interested in financial services.
“Currently, we have some entry-level positions for tellers, we call them MSRs (Member Service Representatives), which are frontline teller positions,” said Amanda Case, branch operations head. “We also have openings for a management position in our contact center and a community impact leader, who looks for ways to make an impact in the community.”
Why students should connect
Case emphasized that MFCU is committed to employee development and continuous learning.
“We offer job shadowing opportunities where employees can visit different departments,” she said. “We also have a tuition reimbursement program—as long as you maintain a certain grade and meet requirements, your schooling costs can be reimbursed.”
She added that the organization values collaboration and cross-departmental learning. “Additionally, employees work closely with other departments and can learn how they operate by asking questions and collaborating.”
How to connect
Students who missed the campus visit can still connect with Members First Credit Union through multiple channels.
“Students can reach to our Talent Acquisition Leader, Becky VanBuskirk, and our Talent Acquisition Specialist, Philip Hale, through their LinkedIn profiles,” Case said. “There are several ways to get in touch, including LinkedIn, Handshake, and our career portal.”
