The brand-new Master of Arts in Early Childhood Leadership program is now accepting applicants for it’s first cohort set to begin in fall 2026. Guided by a Leadership Compass that centers on belonging, equity and reflective practice, this program will prepare graduates to cultivate inclusive environments where children, families and educators feel deeply valued.

This 30-credit program can be completed in as little as one year and takes place fully online, making it a flexible and convenient option for students looking to advance their careers in early childhood leadership. Expert faculty within the Human Development and Family Studies department will guide students as they put new strategies into practice and analyze results.

Throughout this program, students will blend theory with hands-on practice as they develop a unique, systems-based perspective beyond administrative training, connect with other professionals in the early childhood field, and prepare a professional portfolio to support roles in policy, supervision, grant writing and program leadership. Graduates of the MA in Early Childhood Leadership will be prepared to take on careers like an Education and Childcare Administrator, Childcare/Preschool Director, GSRP Consultant, Childcare Licensing Consultant, Coach, among others.

Those interested may apply for this program online by visiting fireup.cmich.edu/apply—application deadline June 15. Visit the MA in Early Childhood Leadership program page to learn more, or contact the program director, Dr. Joellen Lewsader.
