Central Michigan University’s Percussion Ensemble is gearing up for its fall performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Staples Family Concert Hall. School of Music faculty member Andrew Spencer is ready to share music and beauty with the campus community.

“This is my 19th year doing this, and I just absolutely love it,” Spencer said.

The ensemble is composed of 15 musicians, ranging from freshmen to graduate music students. This group meets once a week to rehearse the six pieces it will perform.

While Romeo, Michigan, sophomore Spencer Perilloux has been involved with the Percussion Ensemble for only one year, he already enjoys the challenge of learning the music and the fulfillment that comes with performance.

“Percussion is always interesting to watch and hear. You can see every note that is played, as well as enjoy the colorful contemporary sound that percussion has adopted,” Perilloux said.
