Break Our Games is back
Central Michigan community members and beyond take on the challenge of playtesting games in development
This semester, Break Our Games returns, inviting students, educators, and game designers to gather around the table and put new ideas through their paces. Hosted by the Center for Learning through Games and Simulations (CLGS), the monthly playtesting series transforms Central Michigan University’s Park Library room 211 into a hub of creativity, critique, and collaboration.

Every second Friday, participants roll dice, trade ideas, and test prototypes ranging from fast-paced competitive games to classroom tools designed to spark deeper learning. Past sessions have featured everything from ecology-inspired simulations to games tackling issues of privilege and resilience.
Open to all, the event thrives on feedback, whether it’s about mechanics that keep players engaged or themes that make complex topics more approachable. The result? Games that are not only fun but also transformative in classrooms and beyond.
This semester’s Break Our Games sessions are scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. September 12, October 10, November 12 and December 12 in Park Library Room 211.
