Candidates for medical dean to visit CMU

CMU community invited to attend open forums the next Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine leader

The Central Michigan University community will have an opportunity to meet with finalists in the nationwide search for the next dean of the Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at CMU.  Candidates have been invited to campus to meet with a variety of stakeholders. Additional candidates and open forum details will be announced 48 hours prior to each candidate’s visit. 

All members of the CMU community are welcome to attend open forums for each candidate, either in-person or via livestream. Participants can find links for the open forums and participant feedback forms on the Office of the Provost website.  

Michael Busha, MD 

3:15-4:15, Thursday, March 5, Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine Room 1426 

Dr. Mike Busha currently serves as senior associate dean for Academic Affairs, Chief Academic Officer, and interim co-chair for the Department of Family Medicine at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine in Kalamazoo.  He has previously served as chair for the Department of Medical Education and associate dean for Educational Affairs, also at WMU.  Prior to this, Dr. Busha held several leadership roles at the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He earned his MBA from George Washington University and his MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.  He completed his residency and an advanced obstetric fellowship in family medicine with health systems in South Carolina. 

Joshua Nosanchuk, MD

Dr. Josh Nosanchuk, is currently serving as a professor with both the Department of Medicine and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York.  He also holds emeritus status as senior associate dean for Medical Education at Albert Einstein and serves as an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases with the Montefiore Health System. In addition, Dr. Nosanchuk acts as an advisory researcher at the Center for Technological Development in Health through the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and the Ministry of Health in Brazil. He earned his MD and completed his internal medicine residency at Cornell University Medical College in New York.  He has completed both a clinical and a research fellowship in infectious diseases through Albert Einstein. 

Andrea Wendling, MD

Dr. Andrea Wendling currently serves as senior associate dean for Academic Affairs, the Director of Rural Medicine Curriculum, and a professor of Family Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She has previously served as associate dean for Community Academic Programs and as senior director for Certificate Programs, also at MSU. Dr. Wendling earned her MD from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed residency at the Grand Rapids Family Practice Residency. She also completed a fellowship in Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM). 

 

The Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University was founded in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, in 2010 and was named by Covenant HealthCare in 2025.  The college will soon be moving to its new home in the CMU MyMichigan Health Medical Education building on the MyMichigan Health campus in Saginaw.
