Carls Center Introduces DEXA Scan as a New Service
Combining Innovative Health Services with Hands-On Student Training
The Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education is pleased to announce the addition of DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scanning to its range of health services. A DEXA scan is a non-invasive and accurate method for measuring body composition, providing a detailed breakdown of lean and fat, offering valuable insights for overall health and well-being.
DEXA scans are widely recognized as the gold standard for assessing bone health, helping to identify risks for osteoporosis and other conditions. In addition, the scan delivers detailed body composition analysis, making it an excellent tool for individuals focused on fitness, weight management, and/or athletic performance.
Why choose DEXA?
- Accurate and reliable results for bone density and body composition.
- Quick and non-invasive procedure.
- Ideal for preventive care, sports performance, and personalized health planning.
This service not only benefits the community, but also the CMU student experience. Under the supervision of Drs. Paul O’Connor and Rachael Nelson, faculty in the School of Health Sciences in The Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, students will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience by providing this hands-on service.
Appointments for DEXA scans are now available at the Carls Center. To learn more or schedule your scan, call 989-774-6624.
