CBA RSOs showcase career readiness at Grawn Hall event
Tuesday, Sept. 2, business students gathered outside Grawn Hall for an event highlighting the many ways Registered Student Organizations prepare them for success beyond the classroom. From professional fraternities to industry-specific associations, these groups give students opportunities to lead, network, and apply their learning in real-world settings.

“The Involvement fair is a great way to find professional organizations within the CBA. It is a fun way to network with faculty and other student leaders,” said junior accounting and finance major Trinity Koppus from Fostoria, Ohio.
BAP has strong lineup of fall events
Beta Alpha Psi, CMU’s accounting and finance honor organization, announced a series of fall events designed to help students launch their careers. September programming includes:
- Resume review workshops to sharpen application materials
- Meet the recruiter night, featuring accounting and finance companies recruiting on campus.
- Detroit bus trip to visit major accounting firms and experience professional culture firsthand.
“These events allow students to build confidence and connections with professionals in the field,” said a Beta Alpha Psi representative.

Building skills through student organizations
The CBA is home to various RSOs, and most were represented at the event. Some that stood out were:
- The Financial Planning Association helps students explore careers in wealth management, client advising, and financial analysis.
- The Project Management Chapter introduces students to leadership and organizational skills used across industries.
- Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed professional business fraternity, develops leadership, ethics, and networking through a variety of professional and service events.

Faculty always encourage students to get involved early, noting that these opportunities set graduates apart in the job market. “Extracurriculars are the things that are going to make or break where you end up,” said finance faculty member Brad Taylor.
“When I was a freshman it was hard not only adjusting to a new school but also connecting with the place I was learning, the College of Business Administration. I wanted to find my place and familiarizing myself with the people sitting next to me in class," said junior marketing and logistics management major Jaclyn Serazio from Livonia, Mich. "As a junior, I can now say the best way to feel part of the CBA is by joining an RSO. Through Society of Women in Business I was able to meet people in my major but also gain insights with upperclassman on how to navigate CMU. Also, when you join an RSO you have a place to go after classes, a place to get away from the stress of your homework and connect with the community of the organization. I would strongly recommend joining an RSO within the CBA if you want to establish yourself in Grawn Hall.”
Fired up for what’s next
For business students, joining an RSO is more than a resume boost; it’s a chance to practice leadership, explore careers, and gain mentors who will support their journey. Whether meeting recruiters, managing projects, or connecting with alumni, CBA students are proving they’re ready to act and lead in their industries.
