CMU hosting MI-ACE Women of Color Collaborative Annual Luncheon
Registration open now for Nov. 13 event
Women of Color from across Michigan will network, share experiences and celebrate professional accomplishments at the MI-ACE Women of Color Collaborative Annual Luncheon this November.
The luncheon will take place inside Central Michigan University’s Bovee University Center Rotunda from Noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 13.
Vice President of University Engagement and Student Affairs, Dr. Shawna Patterson-Stephens, currently serves as one of 16 MI-ACE Executive Board members, supporting the Women of Color Collaborative as their committee chair.
“The WOCC has been a sustained source of support, development, and community for women throughout the State of Michigan since 2011,” Patterson-Stephens said. “Hosting the luncheon at CMU demonstrates, not only our commitment to ensuring that women in higher education receive opportunities for engagement and advancement in the field, but also our capacity for ensuring that our students have continued access to possibility models while they consider their interests and pursuits.”
A portion of the proceeds from the luncheon are shared with the CMU MI-ACE chapter, which is supported by the leadership of co-institutional representatives, Drs. Misty Bennett and Nikita Murry.
Dr. Pamela Pugh, president of the Michigan State Board of Education, will provide the keynote address. CMU’s talent will be on full display, as well. Violinist and current CMU student Micah Dunn will perform at the luncheon. Photographer and current CMU student, Justin Wheeler, will also support the luncheon with his artistic gift. Vendors, including Linked by Twins and True2You will also be featured guests. Finally, participants have the opportunity to complete tours with the University Art Gallery, Baber Room or the Clarke Historical Library.
Hosted annually by different universities across this state, this year’s luncheon will be supported by Central Michigan University. This marks the first time CMU has hosted the event since its inception in 2011.
Registration is open now through November 10 for $85 per individual or $720 per table of eight. Registration increases beginning October 26.
Complete event details are available on the luncheon’s web page. Prospective sponsors are encouraged to review the sponsorship prospectus and complete their submission online.
