David Patton, interim senior vice provost for academic affairs, has announced Patricia Williamson as the permanent director of the Central Michigan University Honors Program. Williamson has served as the interim director since July 2022 and prior to that, as a member of the Honors Council and a faculty member in the School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts since 1999.

“I am thrilled that Patty will continue as the director of the Honors Program,” Patton said. “She’s done a wonderful job the past year, and her dedication to the Honors Program and students is greatly appreciated. With Patty’s leadership, I am confident that the Honors Program will continue to flourish and empower students to reach their full potential.”

As the director, Williamson is responsible for managing all aspects of the CMU Honors Program, including providing the vision and leadership for transformative programming for Honors students, increasing the high-quality curricular and co-curricular experiences for Honors and other students, and managing the annual Centralis scholarship competition.

“I'm excited to take on the role of Honors Director and continue to work with our amazingly talented Honors students. My goal is to focus on community-building and student engagement, while offering students uniquely transformative educational experiences,” Williamson said.

The Fall 2023 semester represents the 62nd year of the CMU Honors Program, which provides a comprehensive and immersive experience for students with a focus on community engagement, critical thinking, creativity, passion, and dedication.
