On April 20, 2026, the College of Health Professions welcomed students from Cedar Springs High School's Anatomy & Physiology class for a half-day visit that brought health science to life.

The event marked the culmination of a semester-long capstone project completed by Kinesiology students Austin Williams and Tiana Palmer, who are enrolled in the HSC 490WI Kinesiology Capstone course this semester. As part of their capstone experience, they planned and carried out the event under the guidance of Human Anatomy Lab Coordinator Jennie Queen-Baker. The visit offered high school students a firsthand look at the academic and research opportunities within the College, including an admissions presentation and tours of the Exercise Science laboratories and Human Anatomy Lab.

Highlights included Dr. Zuhl's introduction to the Heat Chamber and its research applications, a live demonstration in the Motion Analysis Center led by Dr. Ustinova, and an immersive hands-on session in the Human Anatomy Lab organized by Ms. Queen-Baker, with students Austin and Tiana leading the demonstrations in both research labs.

Cedar Springs Anatomy & Physiology teacher Ms. Heidi Schuitema expressed her gratitude for the experience, noting that the visit has sparked genuine interest among her students in pursuing Exercise Science at the university level. The College of Health Professions remains committed to cultivating the next generation of health professionals through purposeful community engagement and transformative, hands-on learning experiences.
