Seventeen CMU authors and editors honored at the annual Book Recognition Event

| Author: Kathy Irwin

On April 3, 2024, Central Michigan University honored seventeen faculty and emeriti faculty who authored or edited books during the past year. The Book Recognition Event is held every spring to recognize faculty, staff, and emeriti who have published creative or scholarly books.

The event is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the University Libraries. According to Kathy Irwin, Dean of University Libraries, “Producing a book is a major professional undertaking. CMU’s book authors and editors often spend more than a year working on a book project. Their book publications expand the scholarly knowledge in their areas of expertise or contribute new creative works based on their passions and interests. Each year, I look forward to seeing our colleagues’ amazing books and the range of topics.”

Provost Nancy Matthews added, “Authoring or editing a book is a defining event in the life of a faculty member’s career. The effort sometimes spans a lifetime. The impressive works of the CMU faculty span all disciplines and impact multiple communities, amplifying not only the mission of the university but also the individual impact they each make.”
