The HUB is your place to plug in
The CBA HUB helps students build connections and discover what’s possible
Not sure where to start? The HUB is here for that.
Located in Grawn 112, the HUB is a student engagement center that helps business students explore, connect, and grow. It’s home to student ambassadors, leadership and service opportunities, one-on-one support, and event connections that make it easy to get involved in the College of Business Administration.
“The HUB is meant to be a welcoming space, where students can come in and talk to another student about what’s happening in Grawn and how to get involved,” said Associate Director of Student Engagement & Professional Development Lori Driessnack.
The HUB opened in Fall 2022 as part of a broader commitment to support student engagement from day one. From internship opportunities and self-assessments to service events and the 30+ business-related student organizations on campus, the CBA offers something for every interest—and the HUB helps students find it.

“Students don’t always know what they want to do, and that’s okay,” said Driessnack. “We’ll ask what they’re interested in, what time they have, and we’ll start with a first step.”
That first step often starts with saying “yes”—to trying something new, showing up for an event, or simply having a conversation. From RSOs and service projects to case competitions and mentorships, the HUB connects students to countless ways to get involved. And when students don’t know where to start, the HUB team is ready to help.
“We see ourselves as a connector,” said Director of Student Engagement & Professional Development Amy McGinnis. “There are a lot of really great things happening across CBA—student organizations, admissions and recruitment work, programs, opportunities to get engaged—we want to be the resource to help students know what is available to them.”
“My collegiate experience has been drastically impacted by my decision to become more involved,” said management and marketing senior Ethan Rauschert of Saginaw, Mich. “The HUB, as a facilitator of connections and opportunities, has been imperative to my success, and I have found a community of mentors and supporters who are always available as a resource to me.”
“I received incredible mentorship from upperclassmen during my freshman and sophomore years,” said Rauschert. "Sharing their experiences had a profound impact on me, and when the opportunity to join the HUB as an ambassador presented itself, I knew that it was something that I wanted to be a part of so that I could do the same thing for other students.”
Student ambassadors hold regular hours in the HUB, serving as a peer-to-peer resource for students who want to learn more about how to get involved. Driessnack and McGinnis also host HUB events throughout the semester to help students build skills and community.
When alumni and upperclassmen reflect on their time in the College of Business, one thing comes up again and again—they wish they had gotten involved sooner. The relationships, experiences, and skills they gained through student organizations and leadership opportunities often become the most meaningful parts of their college journey.
If you’re ready to say “yes” and get involved, stop by the HUB in Grawn Hall to start your journey.
