Jordan VanHemert was appointed Director of Jazz Studies at Columbus State University
Jordan VanHemert (B.M.E. 12') was recently appointed Director of Jazz Studies at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. VanHemert was a student of Prof. John Nichol.
Columbus State University has a robust Jazz Studies Program. Some of their offered courses include four levels of jazz theory and improvisation, jazz history, and jazz pedagogy. Ensembles from the program have been featured in performances at events honoring First Lady Rosalynn Carter, President George W. Bush, Mercedes Ellington, Steve Wozniak, Tom Brokaw, Peyton Manning, and other high-profile patrons.
