CMU joins elite group of nationally certified communication centers

Recognition affirms PSC’s excellence in training, evaluation, and support for CMU students and faculty.

Central Michigan University’s Presentation Skills Center (PSC) has earned national certification from the National Association of Communication Centers (NACC), affiliated with the National Communication Association’s Communication Centers Section.

This recognition places CMU among just 20 certified communication centers nationwide — and only two in Michigan.

“CMU’s Presentation Skills Center demonstrates comprehensive selection standards, diverse and intensive training modes, robust topic coverage, and clear ongoing evaluation mechanisms,” wrote Casey Riesberg, Chair of the NCA Communication Centers Section, in announcing the certification.

For the PSC, this certification reflects years of commitment to excellence in public speaking and presentation support for students and faculty.

“Becoming a NACC-Certified Center has been a goal since we began the PSC,” said Lesley Withers, Executive Director of the PSC. “I’m grateful for the support of CAM Dean Campbell, SCJM Director Heather Polinsky, as well as for PSC Operations Director Jeff Smith and our amazing PSC consultant team for helping us to achieve this recognition.”

The PSC offers CMU students and faculty individualized assistance in preparing and refining presentations for classes, professional settings, and community engagement.
