Dr. Jintong Tang brings entrepreneurship research journey to CMU

More than two decades of entrepreneurship scholarship will take center stage Sept. 24 when Dr. Jintong Tang visits Central Michigan University’s College of Business Administration as part of the CBA National Speaker Series.

Tang’s presentation, “Entrepreneurship Research: A 23-Year Journey of Curiosity, Collaboration, and Contribution,” begins at 10 a.m. in Grawn Hall 178, the Plachta Conference Room. The event is open to students, faculty, and staff. No RSVP is required.

During the presentation, Tang will trace the development of her research and explain how curiosity-driven questions helped her build a coherent program of scholarship. She will share her research model, discuss representative studies, and explore future directions for her work.

Tang will also reflect on the role global collaboration has played in her career. The conversation will consider opportunities for future research partnerships between faculty at CMU and Saint Louis University.

Meet the editor

Following the presentation and question-and-answer session, faculty will have an opportunity to participate in a “Meet the Editor” discussion with Tang.

Tang serves as deputy editor-in-chief of the Asia Pacific Journal of Management and holds editorial roles with other entrepreneurship and management journals. The discussion will give faculty an opportunity to ask questions about publishing and the journal publication process.

About Jintong Tang

Tang is the Mary Louise Murray Endowed Professor in Management and a Research Institute Fellow at Saint Louis University. She also serves as director of the Emerson Leadership Institute and interim director of the Chaifetz Center for Entrepreneurship.

She has published more than 90 journal articles and contributed to more than 130 conference proceedings. Her scholarship focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation, and related areas of management. She has received multiple awards for her research and teaching.

The CBA National Speaker Series brings leading scholars to CMU and often pairs their perspectives with opportunities to highlight research underway within the college. Last fall, University at Buffalo scholar James Lemoine explored servant leadership and virtual employee development before five CBA faculty members shared their work in a research colloquium.

The National Speaker Series will continue Nov. 4 with Douglas Cumming, professor of finance and the Steven Shulman ’62 Endowed Chair for Digital Innovation at Stevens Institute of Technology. A financial economist, Cumming’s research spans entrepreneurial finance and financial-market regulation, including extensive work on venture capital and fintech.

Faculty and students can help shape Cumming’s visit by completing a five-question survey about their interest in attending and the presentation topics they would most like him to address. The survey takes approximately two minutes to complete. Complete the speaker series survey.
