Recent grads help launch new game
Crowdfunding season is in full swing for the Center for Learning through Games and Simulations at Central Michigan University.
Central Michigan University Press, which is managed by the CLGS, is the only academic press that publishes juried reviewed and peer reviewed tabletop games. They have previously crowdfunded eleven other games. Their slate this year includes The Blue Way and a cozy poetry-writing game called Line By Line, which will crowdfund in October.
This summer’s project was to promote and launch a campaign to produce The Blue Way, a game by renowned designer Jason Morningstar with artwork by Samuel Araya. It launched June 16 and ended crowdfunding on July 16.

Two recent CMU graduates, Tak Moran and Samantha Krayniak, loaned their talents to CMich Press to create unique promotional materials which expand the world of the game. Moran designed a map with a timelapse creation video to represent the game world and for players and educators to use in a variation of core game rules. Krayniak created a digital exhibit connecting museum exhibit design history to topics in The Blue Way.
The Blue Way is a bleak, gritty fantasy tabletop storytelling game about colonialism and lost stories. It is recommended for ages 14+ and can be played with 1-6 players.
