Mug-Taylor.jpgCentral Michigan University Provost Michael Gealt announced Marcy Taylor has been appointed associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, effective immediately.

In this role, Taylor will work with Dean Richard Rothaus to oversee leadership and operations of the college. Taylor has been serving as interim associate dean since July 2018. She also previously held the role from July 2016 until January 2018 when she became interim dean of the college following the retirement of Pamela Gates.

Taylor first joined CMU as an assistant professor in English language and literature in 1996. During her tenure, she has served as both the department’s director of composition and its chair. Taylor also served as interim chair of the political science department in 2013 during a leadership transition.

Taylor received bachelor’s degrees in both English and secondary education and a master’s degree in English from the University of Idaho. She earned a doctorate in English from the University of Washington. She is a founding co-editor of Pedagogy: Critical Approaches to Teaching Literature, Language Composition and Culture, an academic journal.
