Central Michigan University is gearing up to host the Michigan Space Grant Consortium’s (MSGC) annual Fall Conference, and it’s the first time the event has ever been held on CMU’s campus.

The conference will bring about 135 students, faculty, and industry professionals from across MSGC’s partner universities and local communities to share research and ideas tied to NASA’s priorities.

It’s more than just a conference, it’s a showcase. Fellowship recipients will present their research through oral and poster sessions, and award winners from MSGC’s educational programs will highlight the impact of their work. Attendees will also get a chance to learn from each other, make connections, and prepare for future fellowship and grant opportunities.

This year’s keynote speaker is CMU’s own Dr. Jason Keeler, from the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. He’ll be sharing his experiences mentoring students and encouraging hands-on engagement in STEM fields. His talk will highlight how faculty mentorship can inspire and prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Hosting the conference is also a big moment for CMU. “This is a chance for our faculty and students to not only connect with the broader STEM community, but also to showcase the outstanding education and research happening right here at CMU,” said Dr. Tao Zheng, from the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies.

The conference is expected to spark new ideas, collaborations, and opportunities, underscoring CMU’s role in advancing STEM education and NASA-related research in Michigan.
