Honorary Alumni Award
Richard Cassle
Dick Cassle has served as an adjunct faculty member for Central Michigan University Global Campus for nearly 40 years teaching statistics and quantitative analysis. He is highly engaged with his students as many are working while completing their degrees. His commitment to helping CMU students advance themselves and complete their degrees has given many students the support they need for success. He retired as a Senior Manager from Chrysler fourteen years ago after working in engineering, manufacturing and procurement, and supply.
Dick has been highly supportive financially of Central Michigan University. His contributions include Sports Medicine, Athletics, Computer Services, scholarship endowments, the Education and Human Services Building, Women’s Connection, and US Armed Forces award.
While Dick never graduated from CMU (Central did not offer an engineering degree at the time), there is no doubt CMU is his alma mater. Dick’s daughter received her master's degree from CMU Global Campus and his granddaughter earned her bachelor's degree from the Mount Pleasant campus. He was instrumental in starting The Villages Florida alumni chapter and continues to actively engage new members and grow the group. His passion for CMU knows no boundaries. He works diligently to engage the chapter providing numerous outings and activities. He attends campus events regularly when in Michigan and it is not unusual to see him at the Alumni House when visiting the Mt. Pleasant campus.
