Distinguished Alumni Award

Dick Enberg '57

Through his distinguished 50-year career, Dick Enberg, ’57, is one of broadcasting’s most recognizable voices.

He is entering his 16th year with CBS Sports after 20 years with NBC Sports. He has won 13 Emmy awards, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Pete Rozelle Award, NBA’s Curt Goudy Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and most recently the 2009 Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting.

In addition to all of his honors and awards, Dick has broadcasted all major sports, including the Olympic Games, Rose Bowl, and Wimbledon. He also has appeared in several movies as a broadcaster and has written two best-selling books, “Oh My!” and “Humorous Quotes for All Occasions.”

Dick stays connected with CMU as the national co-chairman for the CMU Events Center fundraising committee, and he has volunteered his time to narrate CMU promotional videos.

Dick continues to support the university financially and has established two scholarship awards – one for health professions and one for athletics. He believes that academic studies are behind everything great in life, and this philosophy led to the establishment of the Dick Enberg Academic Center located in the Indoor Athletic Complex.
