Dick Enberg CMU Alumni Commitment Award
Richard Hazleton '72
Richard Hazleton, MBA '72, has been a longtime supporter of CMU in many ways.
He had a 36-year career with Dow Corning Corp. and served as CEO from 1993 to 2001, during which time he supported corporate relations with CMU. As vice president of the Strosacker Foundation from 2002 to 2005, he gave advice and guidance to CMU's proposals to the foundation.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate in commercial sciences by CMU in 1993. Dick served as the executive in residence for the College of Business Administration in 2002, a program created in 1988 through an endowment from Dow Corning Corp. to bring corporate executives and other business people to campus to interact with students, faculty, staff, and administrators over a period of several days. He and his wife, Mary Lou, also recently established the Hazleton MBA Faculty Excellence Award for a CMU faculty member.
The nominator for Dick and Mary Lou wrote: "The Hazletons want to help CMU be all that it can be, and they are willing to put their time, talent, and resources into helping achieve that goal. They always say yes when asked to do anything for CMU."
