Dick Enberg CMU Alumni Commitment Award
Roger L Kesseler '58
Roger L. Kesseler has lent his expertise to the CMU Board of Trustees for more than a decade.
He graduated from CMU with an accounting degree in 1958 and served as a captain in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1964.
Roger was appointed to the CMU Board of Trustees in 1991, and his current term expires in 2006. He also serves on the CMU Development Board and the accounting department advisory committee and is a member of the CMU ROTC Hall of Fame.
He received an honorary doctorate from CMU in 1989 and in 1996 received the university's first Distinguished Service Award.
Roger has given financial support to the military science/ROTC program and was active in a fund-raising campaign for the Applied Business Studies Complex. He has helped cadets by purchasing their tickets for various ROTC events and contributed to the ROTC 50-year anniversary celebration. He also serves as a role model, attributing part of his success to the training he received in ROTC.
The Roger L. and Phyllis J. Kesseler Finance and Accounting Resource Center is named in honor of Roger and his wife, and one of the new residence halls at CMU is named in honor of the Kesselers.
Roger retired from The Dow Chemical Co. in 1997 after working there for 38 years, most recently as the company's vice president and controller.
