Robert Stebbins ‘88

Robert Stebbins '88 was named General Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in May 2017. Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Stebbins joined the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in 1993 as an associate, becoming a partner in 2001. At Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Stebbins focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, investment funds, and capital markets transactions. He also advised clients on SEC compliance issues and corporate governance matters.

Stebbins earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University (CMU) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and is a fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel. During his time at CMU, Bob was an Academic All-American Football standout and continues to support CMU's Athletic program and mentor students.
