Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Ryan Walsh '08
Ryan Walsh, ’08, already has received national recognition for his camera work for “Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe” and his work with the NBC sitcom “Community.”
While a student at CMU, Ryan received the Silver Telly Award for “The Australia Project.” The award honors the best of the best, and Ryan pulled double duty as the cinematographer and producer on this award-winning show his senior year at CMU. The five-episode series was shot entirely on location in Australia, documenting the experience of traveling and working in a foreign country through the eyes of a student.
Since graduating, Ryan’s involvement with CMU remains as strong as ever. He has taken time off from shooting “Dirty Jobs” to visit CMU to speak to production classes. He is passionate about giving current students the opportunity to use his experiences to their benefit. Ryan makes sure to give out his contact information and answer any questions students have.
