The Jeff Lichon Spinal Cord Injury Foundation
During high school Jeff Lichon ’00 was in an accident that left him paralyzed. After recovering from the accident he finished high school, graduated from Central Michigan University, and began a foundation that would search for a cure for spinal cord injuries. Jeff remains the President and Chair of The Jeff Lichon Spinal Cord Injury Foundation (JLSCIF) which was established in 2010.
The mission of JLSCIF is to provide both student scholarships and grants to children, with the intent being to necessitate a cure for spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders, and to enhance the quality of life of children affected by such conditions, through individual and community financial support.
The Foundation has set up a five-year stipend agreement with CMU named the Jeff Lichon Spinal Cord Injury Foundation Graduate Student Award for graduate students in the Neuroscience program. In addition, the foundation has established a $100,000 Endowment – The Jeff Lichon Endowment in Neuroscience to award scholarships to Central Michigan University graduate students. The Foundation holds an annual Golf Outing to raise funds to support their grants and scholarships. 2015 will be their fifth year of hosting this outing.
