Amy S Courter
Amy S. Courter has been a friend to CMU for several years, serving as a charter member of the College of Business Administration's management information systems (MIS) advisory board.
Amy began her career in 1984 after graduating from Kalamazoo College and is now vice president of information technology at Valassis Communications Inc. She leads a team of 70 information technology and telecommunications specialists.
She is a member of the President's Circle and has generously contributed to CMU, the business information systems department, the AITP student organization, the MIS Solution Center, and the newly established MIS Advisory Board Endowment.
Amy's leadership extends to her role as a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a U.S. Air Force auxiliary unit, where at one time she was responsible for 1,200 search and rescue volunteers in Michigan. She now serves as the senior adviser for the National Cadet Advisory Council of the Civil Air Patrol, where she guides the cadet program for its membership of 25,000 across the nation.
The Jaycees recently named Amy Outstanding Young Michigander, and in 2001, Computerworld named her a Premier 100 IT Leader. Crain's Detroit honored her as one of southeast Michigan's "40 under 40" rising business people.
