John G Kulhavi '65
John Gerald Kulhavi, '65, provides scholarships each year to ROTC cadets and has been a regular guest speaker for events with cadets, sharing his experience and expertise, and talking about leader development for future officers.
He was appointed to the CMU Board of Trustees in 2002 to complete a term expiring in 2008.
He is a member of the ROTC Hall of Fame.
Since his graduation from CMU with bachelor's degrees in education and applied arts and sciences, John has remained involved with the university, serving as a member of the CMU Development Board and the business advisory committee for the College of Business Administration.
He is senior vice president and a financial consultant for Merrill Lynch, Pierce Fenner, and Smith Inc. in Farmington Hills.
His team has ranked in the top 1 percent of financial associates in the country for 20 consecutive years, servicing clients in 26 states and five foreign countries.
John retired from active duty in the U.S. Army in 1969. He served in Vietnam, and received numerous decorations and service medals, including the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve, rising to the rank of brigadier general.
