Where in the world is CMU

Central Michigan University is one of the 100 largest universities in the United States. But don't let that statistic fool you, our park-like campus covers 871 acres and is located in the heart of Michigan – close to the lakes and vacation towns to the north and the big cities with entertainment and shopping to the south!

CMU calls the small town of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, home. The two largest cities in Michigan, Detroit and Grand Rapids are within a two-hour drive and Chicago is less than five hours away! Canada is close by, and you can visit new cities easily by car or train. You'll find that weekends are made for adventures with outdoor activities, visiting one of the Great Lakes or exploring nearby cities.

Because we are located in Michigan, you'll have four seasons of fun. Experience the crisp air and leaves changing as you attend an American football game; then head down the hill on a sled (maybe for the first time) when the rain turns to snow. As spring arrives, so do the bright tulips and green grass; and finally, nothing beats a refreshing trip down the Chippewa River on a float as you soak up the summer sun.

We can't think of a better place to experience the United States than right here in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
