 Submit your enrollment deposit

Let us know you've made your college decision by paying or deferring your enrollment deposit via the application portal. If you choose to defer your payment, it will appear on your first bill this fall. Either way, this will secure your spot in the incoming class.

Complete Your FAFSA

The 2026/2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open! Please submit your FAFSA by May 1 for priority aid consideration.

CMU federal school code: 002243.

 Set up your CMICH account

Next, you’ll need to set up your CMICH account including your new cmich.edu email. Use your “New CMU Account PIN” found at the bottom of your congratulations letter (you can also find it under the “Next Steps” section in your applicant portal).

We recommend setting up your account as soon as you submit your deposit. You'll need it for almost everything, including:

  • Receiving your student ID card.
  • Creating your student email account.
  • Viewing and accepting your financial aid package.
  • Registering for courses.
  • Applying for housing.

 Housing

Step 1: Apply for housing

Ready to dive in? Log in to your housing portal with your CMU global ID and password. Here you will sign your housing contract and begin your housing application. You can create a Roommate Group as soon as you gain access to the application. If you'd like to add roommates later, feel free to do so before housing selection opens in July.

*First- and second-year students must live on campus unless exempt. Transfer students have the option to live on campus.

Step 2: Submit your housing payment

Your initial housing payment of $350 is due on May 1 for the fall semester. If you apply for housing after this date, simply submit your payment along with your housing application.

Step 3: Select your housing assignment

You will receive an email to your CMU account on July 1 with your specific time slot to select your housing assignment.

To find your chosen roommates, everyone must have started their housing application. The one who creates the Roommate Group is the Group Leader. The Group Leader will select a preferred location and assign themselves and each roommate to a bed space in that unit during their assigned time slot.

Be sure to talk with your roommates about a second and third option if your first housing preference is not available as sign-up is first come, first serve.

If you don't specify your roommate preferences, a roommate will be assigned to you based on your housing preferences.

 Schedule your orientation session

Be sure to sign up for your orientation. New student orientation is required for all undergraduate, degree-seeking students.

This is where you'll sign up for courses and learn more about life on campus. The sooner you have orientation, the more you can customize your course schedule. Spots are first come, first serve, so it's best to do this as soon as possible. After you register, you will receive instructions on how to prepare for your orientation date.

    Pre Orientation (online)

    • Located on Blackboard
    • Complete before your scheduled date
    • Required, with some optional lessons

    Orientation day

    • Attend an in-person or virtual session
    • Full day event
    • Wear comfy shoes (trust us!)

     Receive financial aid package

Your personalized financial aid offer will be mailed to home and emailed to your cmich.edu account. This offer will showcase the scholarships you've earned, grants and work-study you've received, along with a summary of the loans we recommend for you.

Want to learn more about how to apply for aid? Don't worry, we've got you covered! You must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file to receive your award offer.

Register for IMPACT and/or Leadership Safari

Look for an invitation in your mailbox and your inbox with instructions on how to register for IMPACT and Leadership Safari, two different guided experiences designed to welcome new students at the beginning of the semester.

Students who attend these events say this is the best start possible to their college careers! Registration is limited so sign up early.

*Students who register for IMPACT are required to participate in Leadership Safari.

     Submit your final official transcript

An official transcript is a record of your high school and/or college courses and grades, sent directly from your previous school(s) upon your request. We require your FINAL OFFICIAL transcripts before you can enroll in courses.

You can typically make this request through Parchment.com. If your school does not use Parchment, ask your high school counseling office or college registrar's office for their procedure. Schools can submit transcripts directly to CMU by mail or email:

    Central Michigan University
    Transcript Department
    802 Industrial Drive
    Mount Pleasant, MI 48858
    apply@cmich.edu

Please note: We do not accept copies or hand-delivered transcripts. Transcripts must be sent electronically or mailed to us directly from your prior school(s).
