Starting Fall 2026, CMU requires a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $2,000 for all incoming international students who have obtained their U.S. visa. Your enrollment deposit confirms your intention to attend and reserves your place for the semester.

This deposit is required for those that have obtained a visa and will be attending CMU.

  • The deposit is non-refundable.
  • The policy only applies to those that who have obtained their visa.


Payment methods

Once visa approval is confirmed, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) will provide instructions via email on how to submit payment through the application portal.

 

Exceptions 

Students may request an exception if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Unable to travel to the U.S. due to emergency health issues or other unforeseen circumstances
  • Undergraduate students selected for the Centralis Scholar Award, MAC Distinction Scholarship, or an Athletic Scholarship
  • Graduate Students on graduate research assistantships
