James McCann's genealogy shows a Jane married to Michael and that Mike drowned.
Grace was also a widow by this time, this checks with Sadie MacLawins story about the 2 brothers that drowned.
This is right, her husband Mike was living in house of Edward in '60 and by this time he was dead, so there is no census under his name.

Is this a son of Walter Whitney, who married Mrs. William's mother? No, a Mormon family. This is a Martin family unrelated to the Mayo Martins. There were Martins on Mackinac, fisherman, but born in Canada and U.S. in the 1840 Census and in 1830 an "Antoine Martin". There is a story about them and the Mormons on pg 93 of the "His of the Gr.
