An affordable investment

A CMU education may be more affordable than you think. If you’re a U.S. resident, you’ll pay in-state tuition—no matter which state you come from. And we offer a wide range of generous scholarships, graduate assistantships, and other financial aid opportunities to help you get there.

Here’s what you need to know about graduate cost and financial aid at CMU.

Main campus graduate tuition

 Master's/Specialist
(per credit hour)
Doctoral
(per credit hour)
U.S. resident tuition*$758$858
International tuition$957$1,040
MBA tuition$808
MSIS tuition$830

* This applies to all graduate students who are U.S. residents. This does not apply to specialty programs with unique tuition rates.
The international rate applies to students who are not eligible for the U.S. resident tuition rates, as outlined by the CMU Resident Status Policy.
Note: The president may vary these tuition rates according to cohorts, markets, programs, locations, or terms of contracts.

Tuition awards

Our tuition awards provide graduate students with resident rate tuition. Doctoral graduate assistants (GA's) are given resident-rate tuition for the duration of their program of study. Master's and specialist's level GA's are given resident-rate tuition only during the academic year of the award (including subsequent summer).
