Fall enrollment timeline

Once you submit your enrollment reservation deposit or have it waived, you will begin to receive important communications regarding housing, orientation, and financial aid.

JANUARY:
Begin your housing application

The Residence Life Living Guide will begin mailing in January. If your deposit is submitted after the initial mailing, you will receive your guide 7-10 days after your deposit has been processed. The guide contains residence hall information and instructions beginning the online housing application.

Part one of the two-part housing application opens on January 11, 2021 at 9 a.m. (ET). Find more details at reslife.cmich.edu.

JANUARY:
Choose your orientation date

Registration opens in January for your required summer academic orientation sessions. Instructions will arrive in your mailbox and your cmich.edu inbox beginning in January. During orientation, you will meet advisors and other students, explore majors and minors, register for classes, and get your campus ID card.

Find more details at cmich.edu/orientation.

FEBRUARY:
Financial aid packages

Personalized financial aid award packages are expected to be mailed to your home and emailed to your cmich.edu account by mid-February.

You must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with CMU to receive your award package.

MARCH:
Register for Leadership Safari

Look for an invitation in your mailbox and your cmich.edu inbox with instructions on how to register for Leadership Safari, a three-day guided experience designed to welcome new students to CMU at the beginning of the semester.

Students who attend Safari say this is the best start possible to their college careers! Registration is limited so sign up early.

MAY:
Finish your housing application

Submit or defer your first housing payment by June 1.

Look for an email in early May from the Office of Residence Life containing instructions on completing part two of the housing application. This is where you will update your housing and roommate preferences.
