At Central Michigan University, we offer a number of scholarship opportunities exclusively for transfer students. Transfer students are also eligible for and encouraged to apply for CMU's other undergraduate scholarships.

The following merit-based scholarships are available to incoming community college transfer students who have at least a 3.30 GPA and 30 credits. Scholarships are awarded based on academic qualifications provided on the application for admission. No additional application is required.

If you qualify for a merit-based scholarship after applying for admission, please submit your updated transcript for review and consideration. After submitting your transcript, please verify receipt by contacting the Admissions Office at cmuadmit@cmich.edu.

Community College Honors Scholarship for Transfers – $5,000​
$2,500 per year for up to two years​
3.50 cumulative GPA* (or higher) and at least 56 transferable credits

Community College Transfer Recognition Scholarship – $2,000
$1,000 per year for up to two years
3.30 cumulative GPA* (or higher) and at least 30 transferable credits​​

*Factored using grades from all colleges attended

Incoming transfer students with at least 12 transferable credits who elect to live on campus are eligible to receive a $2,000 per year Residence Life Grant. The award can be combined with one of the above merit awards and can be renewed for a second year. Your application for admission is also the application for this award. Disbursement of this award is subject to availability of on-campus housing.

Students starting at CMU in January 2018 will receive $1,500 for the Spring semester. The award can be renewed at $1,000 per semester for the 2018-2019 academic year.

If you are an incoming transfer student from outside of Michigan with at least 30 transferable credits and a 2.75 cumulative GPA*, then you are eligible to earn the President’s Award. Your tuition will be billed at the in-state rate. Your application for admission is also the application for this award. Funding for this award is unlimited and will be awarded to all who qualify. The President’s Award may be combined with the Residence Life Grant and a merit-based scholarship.
