Centralis Scholarships

Learn more about the Centralis Scholar and Centralis Gold Awards, the Centralis Transfer Scholarship and admission to the CMU Honors Program.

Centralis Scholar Award

Award includes:

  • Admission to the CMU Honors Program
  • Full tuition (33 credits per year), fees, food and housing for four years
  • $5,000 study away award.

To qualify, you must:

  1. Be a high school senior at the time of application cycle. If you are applying internationally, please contact the Office of International Recruitment for the CMU admissions process.
  2. Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.7 or above
  3. Be admitted to CMU as an incoming freshman starting at CMU in Fall 2025

Centralis Gold Award

Award includes:

  • Admission to the CMU Honors Program
  • Full tuition (33 credits per year)
  • $5,000 study away award.

To qualify, you must:

  1. Be a high school senior at the time of application cycle. If you are applying internationally, please contact the Office of International Recruitment for the CMU admissions process.
  2. Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.7 or above
  3. Be admitted to CMU as an incoming freshman starting at CMU in Fall 2025

Centralis Transfer Scholarship

We are now able to offer the Centralis Transfer Scholarship! This award includes:

  • $5,000 per semester for five consecutive semesters
  • $5,000 study abroad/study away award.

All Centralis Transfer Scholarship recipients are admitted to the CMU Honors Program and are required to complete the Honors Track II protocol. Centralis Transfer Scholarship applicants do not participate in the on-campus competition. 

Applications are available in your applicant portal and are due March 1, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year. 

To qualify, you must:

  1. Be a High School Graduate or equivalent 
  2. Have earned a total of 45 college credits before enrolling into CMU (CLEP, AP and IB credits do not count) 
  3. Have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  4. Be admitted to CMU as a full-time, on-campus transfer student for the upcoming fall semester
  5. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident 

All Centralis Scholarship recipients are admitted to the CMU Honors Program as part of their scholarship package.

Centralis competition frequently asked questions

The Centralis Scholar and Gold awards require an on-campus essay competition in addition to the application. The application will be available to students who submit an application for admission to CMU showing a minimum high school GPA of 3.7, you will see a link to the Centralis application in your applicant portal.

Below are some frequently asked questions in regards to the Centralis Scholarship Competition.

What are the competition deadlines?

The deadline to apply for the Centralis Scholar and Gold Scholarships this cycle has ended. Notifications to the next stage of the competition will go out on Monday, November 20, 2023. The on-campus essay competition will take place Saturday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 9th. Scholarship decisions for the 2024-2025 academic year will be announced February 1, 2024. 

I missed Centralis Scholarship deadline, can I still apply for admission to the CMU Honors Program?

Yes! Honors Program Regular Admission review begins March 1, 2024 and continues on a rolling basis until August 15, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year. There is no standardized test score required. Applications will be reviewed, holistically, with emphasis on academic strengths and potential, leadership and involvement, community engagement, critical thinking and creativity, passion and commitment, and alignment with Honors Program core values.

What is the committee looking for with regards to the creative piece?

Your goal in completing the creative piece is to make a creative presentation or creative piece that distinguishes yourself from the other applicants. This is your opportunity to express who you are and what you bring to the Honors community in an artistic or imaginative way.
