Are you ready to become a CMU Chippewa? As you prepare to fill out your Central Michigan University application use this checklist as your guide.
1. Submit your application
Apply online at apply.cmich.edu. Completed applications (items 1-3 on this page) received by April 1 will receive priority consideration for access to first-come, first-served academic scholarships. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis. Those received after April 1 will still be evaluated but may result in limited availability of scholarships.
2. Pay the application fee
The application fee can be paid when you submit your application online. The fee is required to process your application.
3. Submit your transcripts
Have your official transcripts sent directly to CMU from all colleges you have attended. If you have completed fewer than 24 college credits, you must also submit your high school transcript. Transcripts can be emailed to
transcripts@cmich.edu or mailed to the following address:
Central Michigan University
Attn: Transcripts Department
802 Industrial Drive
Mount Pleasant, MI 48858
If you are temporarily unable to obtain your transcripts due to coronavirus-related closures of schools, please contact us at apply@cmich.edu or 989-774-4444 to discuss alternative ways of completing your application. We may choose to evaluate unofficial transcripts or conduct a holistic review of available materials.
Optional step
Provide us with any of the following information you would like us to consider while reviewing your application for admission. Materials may be submitted by
email. -
ACT or SAT scores (strongly recommended if you have fewer than 24 college credits)
-
Letters of reference
-
Personal statement, including extracurricular involvements and leadership activities
What can I do next?
Complete your FAFSA
Be sure to file for financial aid with a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA may be filed beginning October 1. Designate CMU as your school of choice to qualify for financial aid. CMU will send a financial aid award statement to each admitted student who completes a FAFSA.
School code: 002243
Apply for additional scholarships
In addition to the merit scholarships awarded based on academic qualifications submitted on the application for admission, many CMU departments offer scholarships to incoming transfers. Please
review the list of scholarships for additional application requirements and deadlines.
When will I receive a decision?
Admissions letters for the Fall 2021 semester will start to hit mailboxes in early September. Those applying for earlier semesters will receive an answer within a few days.
