Art & Design Study Away Scholarships Additional Application Requirements
Within Scholarship Universe, you will be prompted to upload a portfolio submission and a one-page written statement that describes the educational travel program you plan to attend, and how the experience will impact your educational/professional experience. The maximum file size for upload is 20MB. Your PDF may include web link(s) for videos or animations. If you have issues uploading your portfolio, please contact the Department of Art & Design.
You will also be asked to select your first and second choice for a one-week workshop from Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and/or Oxbow School of Art if you would like to be considered for those scholarships.
Animation, graphic design & studio art majors (BFA & BAA):
Portfolio of 4–8 images/examples of your creative work. Please create a single multi-page PDF with all images. Detail images and multiple views of the same work are not counted as part of the maximum of 8. Each work must be clearly identified with the title of work, the course that it was completed in (if applicable), date of completion, medium, and dimensions.
BA art history majors:
2–4 written assignments in art history: These may include mid-term or final exams, written assignments, and research papers. Each example must be clearly identified with the title of work, the course that it was completed in, date of completion.
BS Ed visual art education majors:
Portfolio of 2–5 images of creative work and 1–2 written assignments: These may include mid-term or final exams, written assignments, research papers, or lesson plans. Each example must be identified with the course that it was completed in (if applicable) and the date of completion. Please submit all written assignments and images/examples of your creative work as a single PDF. Each image must be clearly identified with the title of work, the course that it was completed in (if applicable), date of completion, medium, and dimensions.
