Art and Design Scholarships
We are committed to helping you invest in your future. That’s why we offer a variety of scholarship awards at both the university and department levels. This includes four scholarships that are available to incoming freshmen and transfer students! Please see eligibility requirements below:

All incoming freshman or transfer students intending to major in Art are eligible.
Katherine Ardis Ux Art Scholarship for Graduate Studies
To provide support to Senior Art and Design major or alumni who intend to conduct research or further study in the field of art or design in a Masters program or another type of structured Post-Baccalaureate program.
Eligibility:
Senior standing at CMU for the academic year
Signed Art majorStephen L. Barstow Memorial Art Prize
Awarded based on financial need with an emphasis on promoting Native Americans into the Arts.
Eligibility:
Meet Office of Financial Aid requirements for financial aid.
Signed Art major (except incoming Freshman or Transfer students).
Minimum GPA in Art of 2.5 for freshmen, 3.0 for all other students.

Stephen L. Barstow Native American Prize
Preference is given to Native Americans, although all art majors may apply.
Eligibility:
A tribal ID from a State or Federally recognized Native American tribe (if applicable).

Minimum GPA in Art of 2.5 for freshmen, 3.0 for all other levels.

Frances E. Fitch Art Scholarship

First preference given to students enrolled in the Multimedia Design minor. Second preference will be given to students enrolled in Graphic Design and/or Animation majors. All art majors may apply.

Incoming freshmen who have applied to CMU are automatically considered for CMU's Merit Scholarships. Submit a complete application including all supporting materials by December 1 for priority consideration.
