Central Michigan International Film Festival
The Central Michigan International Film Festival (CMIFF) is an annual showcase for a diverse slate of films from around the world. This five-day event takes place over multiple venues both on and off campus every February. Organized and staffed by students, CMIFF shines a spotlight on independent, international, and Michigan-made films, including films produced by CMU students.
CMIFF prides itself on bringing films to mid-Michigan that wouldn’t be available otherwise. Students who are a part of the Central Michigan International Film Festival team learn valuable skills, including event management, promotion, marketing, and fundraising. Students, faculty and community members have been working together to bring the festival to life since 2002. In 2020, CMIFF teamed with BCA faculty to offer its inaugural Film School for high school students from across the state of Michigan, and also hosted filmmakers from around the country at its first Filmmaker and Fundraising party.
Independent filmmakers are encouraged to submit their work to CMIFF via Film Freeway.
