November is Native American Heritage Month. Central Michigan University honors Native American heritage in collaboration with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe through educational initiatives, cultural events and speakers, and educational resources for the campus and tribal communities.

Celebrating first-generation college students. The CMU Libraries provides an extensive collection of print and eBooks about the first-generation college student experience. The books provide readers with understanding of the barriers plaguing higher education and offer them ways to support the needs of these students.

October is health literacy month. Health literacy is considered a foundational goal of the Healthy People 2030 initiative, and part of that effort is to ensure people can discover, evaluate, and apply information to help inform their healthcare decisions

CMU Libraries, has a department that helps students and faculty members with their course materials when they need them. Course Reserves staff members scan and upload book chapters and articles to Blackboard shells for professors and provide physical books that students can check out from the library for a short period without having to purchase the book.
