The CMU Libraries Accessibility Committee spent nine months assessing accessibility. Now, they’re promoting resources via a new Accessibility Services Page, highlighting elevators, study spaces, book-finding help, and assistive tech to improve library access for all.

The Library offers a collection of films, including DVDs and streaming options, to support academic needs. Faculty and staff can check out DVDs for 7 days, while students can borrow them for 3 days. With the decline in the use of DVD players, the Library provides films to be streamed through platforms like Kanopy and Films on Demand. The Library also offers viewing equipment and consultation services with media librarian Stephanie Mathson to assist with video content selection, licensing, screenings, and technical or legal concerns.

National Library Week (April 6-12, 2025) celebrates libraries' impact. Events include Right to Read Day, Library Workers Day, Outreach Day, and Take Action for Libraries Day. This year's theme, “Drawn to the Library,” invites communities to engage.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, we will celebrate the creative and scholarly achievements of CMU faculty and staff who published books in 2024.

CMU Libraries is working toward becoming a Certified Sustainable Library through the Sustainable Libraries Initiative. Our goal is to become more environmentally sound and socially equitable using economically feasible solutions.

CMU Libraries has numerous books and other resources to offer. LIB 197 is here to help you find and use these resources more effectively and efficiently.

To better serve CMU students, CMU Libraries now have laptops that can be checked out for 2 weeks at a time. Launched in August 2024, this laptop program has become a success.

CMU Libraries, in partnership with CLGS, is adding 300+ board games! The collection, located on the 2nd floor, will be available for CMU students, faculty, and staff for two-week loans. Instructors can request games for classes by emailing cmulibraries@cmich.edu.

CMU Libraries offer a vast children’s literature collection, from classics like "Alice in Wonderland" to contemporary works. The University Library holds award-winning books, while Clarke Historical Library houses rare and historical titles. Community members are welcome!

CMU and the University Libraries celebrates Black History Month with the theme “African Americans and Labor.” Events include a screening of "10,000 Black Men Named George" on Feb. 6, 2025, at 7 p.m. in French Auditorium, plus special collections on African American history.
