Services for Patrons with Disabilities

Our aim is to make sure that you have what you need from us both online and in person. Whether you're meeting a group for a project, researching for class, or looking for a place to relax, we work to make sure the library space and services are accessible to everyone. Start your visit with barrier-free parking and elevators, then spread out and collaborate at one of many carrels and tables or tackle that research project with a visit to the Library Services Desk or Ask a Librarian online. The library is designed to accommodate and empower.

Visiting and accessing Park Library

Hours for the Park Library are posted at the building's entrances and online.

Parking information is available on the  CMU Police Department website.

Elevators are located past the Information Desk and first-floor staircase and adjacent to the first-floor restrooms.

Carrels and tables

Carrels and tables for library patrons in wheelchairs are located on every floor of the library.

Research help

Please visit the Library Services Desk on the second floor for help locating information. If you'd like to schedule a one-on-one reference consultation with a librarian you can do so online, through email or call (989) 774-3114

Retrieving materials

You may have books retrieved and held for you at the Library Services Desk on the second floor or you may pick them up on the first floor through our Contactless Book Pickup service. You can use the 'place a hold' option in Smart Search. Or you can call (989) 774-3114 or email and provide us with the call number(s) and title(s) of the book(s) you wish to check out.

Periodicals and government documents

Most of our periodical subscriptions and articles are available through Smart Search. Some physical periodicals are located on the third floor and do not circulate. They can, however, be scanned or photocopied. If you need assistance, please contact the Library Services desk. Many government documents are online and some are also located on the second floor and may be checked out.

Non-print media

DVD and VHS video recordings are available at the Library Services Desk. Call (989) 774-3114 for more information.

Clarke Historical Library

The Clarke Historical Library is located on the first floor of the Park Library. Although use of their materials is restricted to the Clarke Reading Room, special arrangements can be made for patrons with disabilities. In addition, some materials have been made available online through their website. Call (989) 774-3352 to learn more.
